Panda Paco is a full-time Furry artist hailing from Guadalajara, Mexico who's drawn over 3,000 Furry illustrations since 2007. An avid kidfur himself, his art depicts idealized visions of childhood, friendships, and curiosity in a safe and healthy way. Having drawn Art and Biro, a webcomic-turned illustrated comic book and raised thousands for charity, Panda Paco remains a remarkably positive influence and fixture in the Furry Fandom, and an inspiration to many.

The late Mark "Sylys Sable" Merlino is responsible for cofounding the first anime fan club in America, the Cartoon Fantasy Organization, in 1977, and the first Furry convention Confurence on January 21-22, 1989. Sylys shared early Furry Fandom history and contributed articles and pieces to the Virtual Furry Museum, displayed in the History of the Furry Fandom, and remains one of the most valued presentations in the museum. Upon his passing, a memorial room was created and dedicated in his honor, featuring dozens of stories submitted from past roommates, friends, and people who met him for the very first time. An avid fan of the Virtual Furry Museum, Sylys is quoted as saying "There are two great places to learn about Furry Fandom history - The Fandom Documentary, by Ash Coyote, and this museum!"

Shymatsi is a New Jersey native, having coordinated events and volunteered for dozens of Furry conventions since 1995. As an African American pansexual male, Shymatsi appreciates the Furry Fandom breaking gender norms and bringing people together. A member of the museum's board, Shymatsi allowed himself to be featured as a contributor to the Furs of Color display, promoting the racial diversity of our Fandom, and our history.

NIIC_Icon.jpg

NIIC the Singing Dog is a singer/songwriter from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who's performed in music festivals and bars all over Philly. Having performed in front of crowds of 6,000, at dozens of Furry conventions over America, and produced 3 albums on Spotify, NIIC's music is sure to pump up the party. Inspired by his mother's dog Nikki, NIIC's fursona, a green Akita, has become one of the most famous icons in the Furry Fandom during the mid-late 2010s. The headshot drawn by Thanshuhai in May 29, 2013 was the top Google search for Furry for several years and frequently reused as an avatar for many Furries who did not own any art of their own. According to NIIC, neither him nor the artist hold resentment towards those who effectively stole their works, as the popularity netted opportunities for both. NIIC received at least 4 Guest of Honor titles at Furry conventions since 2025, doesn't plan to stop performing anytime soon. His biography was contributed to the Virtual Furry Museum.

YoSoyDano.webp

YoSoyDano is a popular Mexican Furry streamer who served as a cultural advisor for the Furry Family Ofrenda display in the Virtual Furry Museum. Living deep in southern Mexico gives him great experience with the traditions of Dia De Los Muertos from its deepest originators. Among his recommendations were authentic music selections, the inclusion of a psychopomp messenger to the dead, and a focus on candles and marigolds to accurately represent the holiday visually.

Shoutmilo.webp

Shoutmilo was a highly expressive Furry artist from California. His art showed phenomenal rendering, a masterful command of expressions and color, and when he draws wild, the energy in his pieces are unmatched. Pursuing art professionally has put his Furry art on "paws," but as one of the first artists included in the museum, his work continues to be honored and inspires many.

ArtOfMaquenda.webp

Art of Maquenda is a Dutch Furry Artist from the Netherlands whose beautiful body of work features animals in tandem with the occult, the macabe, and the provocative. In their own words "I see beauty in the 'wild, weird and wonderful' aspects of life."

CornelisSaftleven.webp

Cornelius Saftleven is a 17th century Dutch Renaissance artist who painted over 200 fantastic depictions of hell with farm animals. Bucking the trends of the Renaissance by drawing animals inspires us to see Anthropomorphic art beyond the confines of the modern Furry Fandom and connect with history.

Midas.webp

Midas Wolf (drawn by Awesty) is a Fur of Color who studied commercial piloting on a person of color scholarship. At the time of his inclusion in the Virtual Furry Museum in 2022 he was earning a flight instructor's rating, but has recently passed certification for commercial piloting. Through the Fandom he was able to explore his sexuality, make many friends. His display in the museum features a Mustang P51, the airplanes used by the all-black Tuskegee Airmen, famous for their very low mission failure rate during WWII, and Midas' personal inspiration for becoming a pilot.

Thanshuhai.webp

Thanshuhai is a Vietnamese-Fillipino Furry artist famous for the creation of NIIC's most famous headshot. His headshots are presented in the museum along with the stories of how those headshots were often stolen. The artist bears no ill-will towards those who steal his works, but the museum did seek permission from the artist for their inclusion in the display.

Kiaun.webp

Kiaun is a Chilean Furry artist who, for many years, dedicated his time to producing Xeno Webcomics, a series of sci-fi Furry webcomics in the world of Derideal.

MyroP.webp

MyroP is a talented French 3D artist and programmer who assisted greatly in the development of the Virtual Furry Museum. Teaching Sotalo the basics of Unity, connecting him with Bakery and Amplify Shader Editor, he helped bridge the gap and assisted in the museum's creation. Most Udon programming in the museum was his work. Having made the Lightcycle Arena and VRtual Park worlds in VRChat among many others, and giving a groundbreaking presentation on optimization in Furality Somna, he's become very well-known in the VRChat community as an incredibly skilled creator and community leader.

And so much more!

Who are Furries?

All across human history, some individuals held a fascination with anthropomorphic animals, assigning human traits, emotions, and expressions to the Earth's other living species, representing them as gods, folklore fables, Native American creation stories, and ancient and modern literature. Anthrophic art predates human civilization and written language by about 25,000 years.

Today, the modern Furry Fandom brings these people together in online spaces, VR, and in-person conventions and meetups across the country. Most Furries tend to be LGBTQIA, neurodivergent, and more often than not faced bullying in grade school and from their families. But within this Fandom are many different subcultures and groups spanning the globe, bringing people of these unique traits together. People find friends and make personal connections, advancing their creativity, livelihoods, and sometimes even their careers. The taste of so many different Furries are incredibly diverse, and the reasons people join are even more so.

How does the
Virtual Furry Museum
Help Furries?

At the time it was launched, the Virtual Furry Museum was filled with contemporary Furry art spanning a broad range of tastes, time periods, and subcultures. Some ancient and historical art as well as non-Furry commercial and fine art is also included to broaden our understanding of Furry. More exhibits are continually researched and added.

Along with Furry Art, the Virtual Furry Museum prides itself on presenting and educating Furry culture. While misconceptions continue to threaten our understanding of each other, sow divisions between different groups and decimate communities, the Virtual Furry Museum gathers stories from hundreds of contributors and visitors, presenting those genuine stories and communities to many audiences.

The Virtual Furry Museum

needs YOUR help!

Since development of the Virtual Furry Museum began in October 2022, all research, work on development, and tours have been made free of charge, and all donations have been turned away. Everything in this project has been provided to the public free of charge. Thousands of hours have been sunk into the studies, knowledge, research, and development, and I had spoken with thousands of Furries to include their experiences in the museum and presentations, and just as many Furries had received those stories in presentations. However, in the years since, I had to upgrade my computer, suffered major medical issues with Type One Diabetes, and faced the loss of my job of nearly 10 years.

For the museum to persist and continue its development, for the first time in nearly 3 years of developing this place, I need YOUR help. Please subscribe to my Patreon and select a regular donation tier to provide me a steady income. This will go towards making sure I can continue to support tours and develop the world. In return, with the Museum as my primary source of income, I can dedicate more time to this place, learn and share Furry subcultures and history, and present it with all who are willing to learn.

Exhibits In Development

The Virtual Furry Museum is not complete! Work goes on every day to conduct further research and bring in new exhibits. Here are some of the exhibits currently in progress:

The Little Schoolhouse

A schoolhouse dedicated to the ABDL community, one of the Furry Fandom's most popular, secretive, and misunderstood subcultures. The display will feature an extensive history of diapers, selected stories from ABDL history, stories directly from DLs, Babyfurs, and Kidfurs about how this community helped them, the history of toys, maps and educational materials, and assistance for members, friends, leaders, and those who wish to turn back the hate. This exhibit helps all of us appreciates the value of this incredible community filled with so many different adults who lead stressful lives, people with severe medical conditions, survivors of abuse, and highly skilled people all looking to recapture the cozy, comforting joys of childhood.

The History of Furality

One of the biggest displays in the Museum once completed, The History of Furality will feature 3D dioramas of 6 worlds and events of the largest Furry convention ever, including scientific information about COVID-19 (and its impact on VR spaces and the Furry Fandom), the history of VRChat, Furality's Creative Team stories, and the future. Bespoke music will be made with a stunning and talented vocal cast and shared memories.

The Funday Pawpet Show

The internet's longest running show, the Funday Pawpet Show got its start in November 1999 as a puppet show airing every Sunday out of Randy "Yappy" Fox's home, with the help of Mutt and crew, and plenty of audience participation! Inspired by Richard Concepcion's show Rapid T. Rabbit (aired 1983-2017), rather than focusing on Muppet-styled skits, the show focuses instead on audience participation, using the internet to connect with fans across the globe! Based in Orlando Florida, the Funday Pawpet Show attracted many star guests including the voice of Max Goof, Jason Marsden, the entire child cast of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and even Fandom guests like Mark "Sylys Sable" Merlino and Uncle Kage. The presentation in the museum will feature the show's history, some of the show's most infamous episodes, interactive games, and a fascinating display.

Consideration for Future Exhibits

Many groups are represented in the Virtual Furry Museum, but many other groups are not specifically mentioned and are worthy of recognition and further research. If given proper resources, I may be able to cover these groups and be able to share their works and stories, and better understand how these groups benefit the Fandom, and how the Fandom benefits even more people.
